OnePlus One – Real or No Real ?!? Do you own one ?

Design

The OnePlus One is a monolithic device; with its 5.5-inch screen, it’s firmly in the realm of what we once referred to as phablet devices (sadly the term is dying as more phones extend to larger displays). But it does at least manage to fit all that screen in a package that’s as slim as possible – the device is only around 0.35 inches thick.

It’s just a shade smaller than the Galaxy Note 3 in terms of overall footprint, but it more closely resembles the Nexus 5 in terms of its lines and the matte finish of the plastic back, which is somewhat rubberised for grip. As far as gargantuan devices go, the OnePlus One is among my favourite to hold, however, and the Nexus styling is visually appealing, too, as is the slightly protruding top and bottom metal-look lip. It manages to be one of the best looking Android phones recently launched, even if the look is a bit derivative.

Amazing Photos in Every Setting

13 MEGAPIXEL SONY EXMOR IMX214

The 13 megapixel camera on the OnePlus One excels thanks to quality optics, sensors and algorithms.

Many of us rely on our phones for taking all our photos, so we incorporated a camera that delivers astounding results. With dual LED flash, the OnePlus One’s camera will take photos you’ll want to share, day or night.

With an impressive 5 megapixel camera adorning the front of the OnePlus One, selfies will be more captivating than ever. The extra-wide 80º viewing angle captures more area than other phones so your pictures will include more background without distortion.

Sensor

Boasting a 13 megapixel Sony Exmor IMX214 camera with f/2.0 aperture, the OnePlus One camera takes amazing pictures even in low light conditions. Shoot any time, anywhere for bright, sharp photos.

Optics

Our camera boasts 6 physical lenses. Your photos will be more precise and detailed without suffering from distortion often caused by lower apertures.

Display

The OnePlus One’s 5.5 inch screen is a touch on the large size. It’s verging on phablet territory and we can’t help but think that as OnePlus’s only phone it could have reached a larger market by being a little smaller.

Still, for some people it will be the ideal size and there’s no arguing with its quality. It’s a 1080 x 1920 IPS LCD display with a pixel density of 401 pixels per inch, putting it right up there with other flagships. Colours aren’t as rich as they could be but the screen is clear and sharp.

Our custom cut and engineered PCB boards are specially dyed and treated with a matte black finish, with each part meticulously aligned to be visually pleasing and functional. Designed To Last

ALL DAY POWER EFFICIENCY

Shipping with the energy efficient Qualcomm© Snapdragon™ 801 chipset, the One’s 3100 mAh battery fits perfectly into the sleek body. The energy efficient display features CABC and DRAM (Display RAM) technology that adjust the level of backlight and differentiate between dynamic and static content on your screen. These technologies reduce the power consumed and allow you to run all your apps and data services, all day long.

The phone comes with a choice of 16 or 64GB of storage. Unfortunately there’s no microSD card slot but if you opt for the 64GB model that shouldn’t be a problem.

It supports Wi-Fi, 3G, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.1 and NFC, so all it’s really lacking is infrared.

One important thing to note in Europe is that the OnePlus One lacks support for LTE Band 200 (800MHz), which means it won’t be able to connect to O2 or Vodafone 4G, and it’ll also limit 4G availability and speeds on Three (band 20).

CWM Touch Recovery v6.0.3.6 for Redmi 1S WCDMA

CWM (ClockworkMod) recovery is a custom recovery which offers much more features compared to the original MI-Recovery 2.0.1 of Redmi 1S.

This is not my work, all credits go to @brainfog (who is user the1024 from Russion 4PDA forum).
I am just adding explanations how to test and install the CWM Touch Recovery v6.0.3.6 for Redmi 1S WCDMA by providing different ways according to user needs and an easy way to revert back to MI-Recovery.

Thanks a lot to @46995103 for giving the hint to this recovery and to @gtiu,  @punkthemonk and @philip_petev for testing and providing screenshots.

List of most important features:

  • Menu navigation: navigate up by pressing Volume Up or swiping up, navigate down by pressing Volume Down or swiping down, select a menu item by pressing Power or swiping right, go back in menu hierarchy by swiping left
  • Installation of zip files without signature verification from SD card or sideload
  • Factory reset
  • Wipe of Cache and Dalivik Cache partitions
  • Backup of Boot, Recovery, System, Data and Android Secure partitions
  • Restore of backups

Known restrictions:

  • Mounting of USB and Internal Memory not working
  • Charging not working
  • Using CWM zip files can not be installed from internal memory
  • The Internal Memory is affected by the features Wipe Data, Backup and Restore because on Redmi 1S the Internal Memory is integrated within the Data partition (/data/media/0)

Caution:

This is a safe process, but I am not responsible for anything bad that happens to your phone

Below you find 4 step-by-step guides:
1. [for testing purposes] Temporary boot into CWM recovery using PC and fastboot
2. Permanent installation of CWM recovery using PC and fastboot
3. Permanent installation of CWM recovery using Mi-recovery
4. [if necessary] Installation of Stock MI-Recovery 2.0.1

In case any step is unclear, needs refinement or you are encountering issues please reply to this thread.

1. Temporary boot into CWM recovery from PC via fastboot for testing purposes

Prerequisites:

  • Redmi 1S WCDMA
  • Developer options enabled (in Settings -> About phone tap 5 times on Android version)
  • USB debugging enabled in Settings -> Developer options
  • SD card inserted in your Redmi 1S (and properly formatted inside Redmi 1S)
  • adb and fastboot drivers installed on your PC (use adb-setup from here, others might also work)
  • file cwm_hm1s.zip (attached)
     cwm_hm1s.zip (9.06 MB)

Steps:

  • Boot your Redmi 1S into fastboot mode: with the phone switched off press the Volume DOWN and POWER buttons at the same time
  • Connect your Redmi to PC via USB cable
  • Download the file cwm_hm1s.zip to your PC and extract it to the folder where fastboot.exe is located
  • Open a command prompt in the directory where fastboot.exe is located
  • Enter the following in the command prompt to temporary boot your Redmi 1S with the CWM recovery
    1. fastboot boot cwm_hm1s.img

    Copy the Code

  • Wait until CWM has booted and start testing the CWM features
  • After you have finished testing you use ‘reboot system now’ from CWM main menu

2. Permanent installation of CWM recovery from PC via fastboot

Prerequisites:

  • same as for 1. above

Steps (same as for 1. above, only difference is in step 5)

5. Enter the following in the command prompt to install the CWM recovery permanently

  1. fastboot flash recovery cwm_hm1s.img

Copy the Code

3. Permanent installation of CWM using MI-Recovery 2.0.1

Prerequisites:

  • Redmi 1S WCDMA
  • Stock MI-Recovery 2.0.1
  • SD card inserted in your Redmi 1S (and properly formatted inside Redmi 1S)
  • file signed_cwm_update.zip (attached)
     signed_cwm_update.zip (9.1 MB)

Steps:

  • Download the file signed_cwm_update.zip to your PC (because download via browser on phone often is not working properly) and rename it to update.zip
  • Connect your Redmi 1S via USB
  • Copy the file update.zip to the folder ‘Computer\HM 1S\Internal storage’ (root of internal storage)
  • Disconnect your Redmi 1S properly (‘Safely remove hardware…’)
  • Boot into Mi-Recovery by starting the Updater app, pressing the left options soft key and choosing from menu ‘Reboot to Recovery mode’
  • Select and confirm ‘English’ (or Chinese if you are capable to understand)
  • Select and confirm ‘Install update.zip to System’, this will take a while
  • Select and confirm ‘Reboot’

Next time when you reboot into recovery you will have CWM.

4. Installation of Stock MI-Recovery 2.0.1

Prerequisites:

  • Redmi 1S WCDMA
  • any recovery
  • SD card inserted in your Redmi 1S (and properly formatted inside Redmi 1S)
  • file signed_stock_recovery_update.zip (attached)
     signed_stock_recovery_update.zip (9.75 MB)

Steps:

  • Download the file signed_stock_recovery_update.zip to your PC (because download via browser on phone often is not working properly)
  • Connect your Redmi 1S via USB
  • Copy the file signed_stock_recovery_update.zip  to the folder ‘Computer\HM 1S\Internal storage’ (root of internal storage)
  • Disconnect your Redmi 1S properly (‘Safely remove hardware…’)
  • Boot into your current recovery by starting the Updater app, pressing the left options soft key and choosing from menu ‘Reboot to Recovery mode’
  • Install the file signed_stock_recovery_update.zip  using the respective feature of your recovery
  • Reboot

Next time when you reboot into recovery you will again have the Stock MI-Recovery 2.0.1

5.5-inch Xiaomi Hongmi 2 receives network licence

5.5-inch Xiaomi Hongmi 2 receives network licence, available in both Qualcomm and Mediatek flavours

Today most of our Xiaomi hongmi 2 questions are answered as the highly anticipated smartphone receives the official green light!

Over the past few months one of the hottest topics on everyone’s lips was “when will the Xiaomi Hongmi 2 launch?” and “what spec will the Hongmi 2 have?”. As with any high-profile phone there have been numerous leaks and sources, and many contradictions, but now we finally have the answers!

Today 3 versions of the Xiaomi Hongmi 2 received their official network licenses over on the TENAA website. One a TD-SCDMA version (which we aren’t to interested in) and 2 variants with WCDMA support!

Xiaomi Hongmi 2 specifications

From the 3 network licenses we have learnt that each phone will have a 5.5-inch 1280 x 720 display, weigh 192g and measure 154 x 78.7 x 9.45mm. Each model which received a license today has just 1GB RAM like the original Hongmi, but updated cameras, with a 13 mega-pixel on the rear and 5 mega-pixel on the front.

The TD-SCDMA version does appear to be slightly different in design with a white lip running around the edges and lower section of the phone, while both WCDMA versions are all black. Designs are similar to the original Hongmi only with a larger body to accommodate the larger 5.5-inch display.

From the specifications it looks like customers will be able to choose from either a 1.7Ghz octacore Mediatek processor or 1.4Ghz Snapdragon chip for the WCDMA version, where as TD-SCDMA customers can only have the option of a Qualcomm processor.

Snapdragon Hongmi 2

It is the Snapdragon WCDMA Hongmi 2 which interests us the most as this chipset is probably the Snapdragon 410 which 64-bit Cortex A53 architecture which can also support 4G LTE. It hasn’t been listed if the WCDMA model has 4G LTE, but past rumours purported the Xiaomi Hongmi 2 would get faster network support!

We believe Xiaomi will release these new phones together with a 4G LTE equipped Xiaomi Mi3S in April during a Xiaomi festival in Beijing. Keep posted for more news.
